I am Yvette Yoho and I have had Chesapeakes since 1980. As a member of the American Chesapeake Club since 1985, I have chaired many supported entries, been a member of the nominating committee and show committee. I have chaired the 2000 and 2006 National Specialty shows.
I started out with a Chesapeake/Labrador mixed breed fondly referred to as a “Chesadore”. I was hooked and very soon purchased my first “full blooded” Chessie, who I named Pax. As time passed, I acquired more dogs and as fate would have it, I picked up a stray whose name is Pete Edwards. We get on pretty well and after 17 years decided to get married.
Together, we all live on Dunwerkin Farms in Pendleton County, Kentucky. If you look on your map, you will find us about halfway between Cincinnati, Ohio and Lexington, KY off of Interstate 75.
We do all the right stuff – OFA, CERF, Optigen DNA, as well as a written genetic health guarantee and a 10-day puppy health guarantee. If you’ve been doing your homework you know what all that means. Here at Blue Sky Chesapeakes, we breed for health, temperament, quality and ability - NOT for color and NOT for marketability. But I probably don’t have to tell you that as it should be obvious by our total commitment to the breed. We have several male dogs available for service to approved bitches. Our girls are only bred occasionally. Sometimes we have older dogs to place but, please, always keep in mind the ACC rescue.
